Tulips and Tulip
care
Tulips are a beautiful flower and growing tulips is not as hard as you might think. Tulips need to be well drained and will also require fresh fertile soil and a sunny position in your garden.< |
It is best to choose a sheltered position for your tulips where they will be protected from the worst of any wind or heavy rain. Plant your tulip bulbs 10 - 15 cm deep. Most bulbs are best lifted when the foliage has died back. Store your tulip bulbs in a cold greenhouse to ripen them before replanting your tulips in the autumn. Some hybrid species of tulip are best left in location for several years, some may self seed where they will take between 4 to 7 years for the tulips to flower, and a few will grow to form small colonies of tulips. |
